Train Ride

The train ride was a success! We all survived, and I'd even do it again. Both girls were great - very well-behaved. We brought our dinner on with us. The train left from 30th Street Station at 4:55. After the initial - ooh we're on the train- thrill was over, we had dinner around 5:45. They colored and read a bit. Then Ryan took the girls for a walk through the different train cars. When they came back, they each had some Benedryl (for the really bad allergies they were having - yeah right!) and watched a movie. Lila was asleep by 8:30, Emma by 9:30. The next morning we had breakfast in the dining car - fun and it took some time. We went back and entertained the girls for a few more hours and we were in Orlando by 1:00. My only complaint was that they didn't ever turn the lights out. That meant Ryan and I had a series of short naps instead of a good night's sleep. But the seats were comfortable.

Oh, and it was daylight savings that night. Remember my joke about did we have to be on the train for an extra hour? Well, WE DID! Around 3:00 am, the train just stopped and after an hour, it started again. I was SO mad. I guess they have to keep up with their Amtrak scheduled stops and can't change it for one trip.
