Our weekend was filled with a soccer tournament for Emma. She's been enjoying playing on the traveling team this year, and Ryan and I have enjoyed getting to know the parents better. Emma's skills are improving, and she's having a great time being part of the team. They even all wear their jerseys to school (2nd grade!) on Fridays. Though she's still not the most aggressive girl on the team, she's learning the rules and positions well. She's getting better at "wanting to get the ball herself" - that's what Ryan, the assistant coach has been telling her. They had 3 games - 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday - this weekend. They won the first 2 quite easily (they're really a good team for their age), but lost the one on Sunday to older girls that were as big as me and skilled. I'm not sure why they played against a U8 team, but it was a good lesson for our team that is used to winning all the time. It was unseasonably hot also, which made for a sweaty, hot, red-faced little sister trying to be good on the sidelines. Oh, and then there was the traffic getting in. It took Lila and I almost 2 hours to get through the line of traffic for security at the military base where it was held. Not fun!
This game was actually last week at our home field, but it's a good shot of Emma running up the field with the ball. She's the one in front about to shoot on goal! The goal didn't happen, but it was a great try! This was also last week, but a really cute picture of my Dad walking Lila to the playground during Emma's game.
